Acting (Film, TV and Stage) Top-up

    About

If you're looking to break into acting, this course is an excellent launch pad. You'll get to fine-tune and extend your acting skills, working on live briefs, networking with industry creatives and taking part in diverse projects.
Are you wanting to top-up your qualification to a BA Honours degree? If you have completed a foundation-level degree, HND, or equivalent qualifications in a relevant Art and Design subject, you can choose to top-up your studies to gain a full bachelor's degree.

    What will I study?

This programme is designed to develop professional skills and techniques across a range of Acting forms focusing on Film, TV & Stage. We enhance students' previous acting training by providing a blend of critical analysis of dramatic texts and screenplays, alongside skills acquisition and development and performance, both for stage and screen.

The course aims to encourage critical thinking through a study of playwrights, performance skills and theatre and film practitioners. Tutors are research active and engage in research through practice, which informs all teaching with theoretical content.

This dynamic top-up degree programme will also give students the opportunity to engage with practitioners in the fields of theatre and film, to stage their own independently produced work and to study an area of interest they wish to research.

You will try out different styles and ideas that suit you and that you can integrate into your own performances. You'll be able to understand what is required for acting on screen as well as stage, and will become a motivated team player able to think about the world around them. You'll become a thinking practitioner with a passion for all that acting can be and a wide range of skills to achieve it.

    How to Apply

As an international applicant you will require a Tier 4 visa to study with us. We therefore require some additional information (beyond the evidence to meet our standard course entry criteria) to support your application.

It should demonstrate an understanding of where BNU is located geographically and what modules you would be studying on your chosen course.
    • Please note that at a later stage in the process the admissions team will contact you to conduct an admissions interview, either face to face or by Skype if you are outside the UK. This will take place when all documentation has been collected and further information and an interview invitation will be sent separately.

Check you meet the entry requirements

Once you’ve had a good look at our course information, and chosen which one feels right for you, before applying it’s worth checking that you meet the entry requirements for your country.

We welcome applications from students with a wide range of qualifications from around the world. You’ll find details of the exact academic and English language requirements for your country on our country pages.

Every student studying with us also needs to meet our English language requirements and we will ask you to provide evidence to show you have good enough English to study a higher education course in the UK.

    Different ways to apply

When you are ready to apply for your course, you can do so in one of three ways:

    • directly through our application portal
    • through UCAS, or
    • through a recruitment agent in your country (see your country page for details of agents we work with who are operating locally to you).

It doesn’t matter which of these routes you use, but we advise you to apply early to give yourself enough time to prepare for moving to the UK and arranging your visa, if you need one.

If you’ve missed out on your first choices, declined any offers made to you, or you’re applying to university after 30 June, you can also apply to us through Clearing.
