    About

    Delve into the practical, artistic and academic aspects of acting and performance on our BA (Hons) Acting and Performance course at UCA Farnham, and become a confident and assured performer in front of the camera and on stage.

    We pride ourselves on giving you the complete package in a course that covers all the different aspects of the craft. And thanks to our close links with Farnham Maltings, youll benefit from the venues extensive resources, large performance spaces and network of arts professionals, as well as the opportunity to see live and screened performances.

    Youll also make use of UCA Farnhams extensive facilities including its first-class Film and TV Centre, sound recording studios and film making equipment and work collaboratively with fellow students on courses in Film Production, Music, Animation, Journalism, Media and Games Arts, ensuring you take your place in our vibrant and collaborative creative community.

    You have the option to complete a Professional Practice Year as part of this course. This will give you the opportunity to develop your professional, academic and personal potential, equipping you to be confident and engaged in creative workplaces. Employers widely recognise these qualities, and a significant proportion of placement students are offered graduate-level jobs or go onto postgraduate study.

    • Tawjihi (secondary school certificate) with a minimum of 65%
    For our Bachelor's courses, we usually require that you have:
    • Community College Diploma/Associate Degree 

    Career

    Alongside (or as an alternative to) theatre, TV, radio or film work, a portfolio career for the professional freelance actor may also include:

    • Acting in corporate films, and live role-play in business training
    • Forming a company to create and stage your own work
    • Commercials (film or audio)
    • Voicing computer games and animations
    • Creating original material for Image Capture projects
    • Community projects such as theatre in schools.

    How to Apply

    If you live in the UK, you should apply through the University and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). You can apply online through the UCAS website.

    You can submit your UCAS application, from mid-September, the year before your course begins.

    The UCAS equal consideration deadline for applications for courses starting in September is normally the last Wednesday in January. We give equal consideration to all applications we receive by this deadline. But, if we still have places available after this date, we'll consider late applications, too.

    If you apply through UCAS, they'll acknowledge your application and forward it to us. You can track the progress of your application through UCAS Track.

    When we get your application (directly, or via UCAS), we’ll send you an email with your login details for the applicant portal. This is where you'll access all the information you'll need through your applicant journey.

    If you’re based in the UK, we will then invite you to an in-person portfolio review at an Applicant Day, where you’ll have the chance to get to know your peers, view student work, and gain all the information you need and want about life at UCA.

    If you’re located outside of the UK, or if you would prefer not to attend an Applicant Day, you will be able to submit your portfolio digitally. Your portfolio review is an opportunity for you to show us your talents and potential - full advice on how to put together your portfolio can be found here.
