Entry Requirements
To be considered for graduate programs at Western, you must hold the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree. You must have earned the degree at an institution recognized and approved to award such credentials. Western does not admit international students as non-degree-seeking students.
International graduate students seeking admission to any of Western’s graduate programs must submit an online application, official degree-conferring university transcript(s) or an official course-by-course credential evaluation, and specific program requirements. All documents in a language other than English must be accompanied by certified English translations.
English Program Requirements
- For 2022 semesters, ACT/SAT are optional. However, international students must still provide proof of English proficiency via the TOEFL or IELTS.

- Complete Western’s Online Application or the Common Application.
- Request your official high school transcript to be sent to Western. Your official transcript can be mailed, faxed, emailed or sent through an electronic service (Parchment, Naviance, e-scrip, etc.)
- Submit the $30 application fee. This can be paid online with the application or by calling the Cashier’s Office at 970.943.3003.
- Optional for 2022 semesters: Send your official ACT and/or SAT test scores to Western (ACT code: 0536, SAT code: 4946).
If you are submitting an application via the Common Application, self-reported information on the Common Application must be verified by official high school transcript(s) and ACT and/or SAT scores for a student to be considered for admission at Western. Please arrange to have those official documents sent to Western’s Admissions Office.
