    Adult and Mental Health Nursing

    About

    Overview

Are you passionate about supporting both the physical and mental wellbeing of others? Do you see yourself as a future nursing leader – committed to addressing the parity of esteem between physical and mental health? Here at Roehampton we can help you achieve that with our MSci in Adult and Mental Health Nursing.

This course is approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

You’ll be part of a unique and exciting dual-field programme, where you’ll learn the required skills to succeed as both an Adult Nurse and a Mental Health Nurse.

You will have the opportunity to shape your learning experience while being taught by expert clinical and academic staff in new teaching facilities and on a wide range of clinical placements. You will receive excellent support to ensure you achieve both academic and professional success.

On successful completion of the course you will be eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as an Adult Nurse and also a Mental Health Nurse.

Your learning on the programme will be split between theory in the classroom and clinical practice in a range of placements and in the Clinical Simulation Centre (CSC).

You’ll develop your theoretical knowledge through lectures, seminars, group work, guided independent study, online learning, reflective practice and a variety of assignments. In year 4 you’ll also undertake an independent project to extend and apply your research and analytical skills.

You’ll gain practical skills and experience through a range of mental health and adult nursing placements, such as community mental health teams, inpatient mental health services, primary care (general practice), community nursing (district nursing), hospices, care homes and acute hospitals. You will be supported, supervised and assessed during placements by both clinical and academic staff.

You will also spend a significant amount of time learning in our new Clinical Simulation Centre (CSC). These brand-new facilities include realistic community and in-hospital settings. Here you will safely practise clinical skills with other students, service users, carers, role players and hi-tech patient simulators under the guidance of experienced clinical and academic staff.

You will also have the opportunity to organise an elective placement in the UK or abroad.
