Real life scenarios will be used within some sessions so you can discuss and share your thoughts and learning within a safe and confidential environment. In addition, your simulated practice sessions will be related to the theory you learn to help you make important links between this theory and caring for people in practice.
You'll explore areas including:
- nursing knowledge and skills
- health promotion
- evidence-based compassionate person-centred care
- clinical science
- collaborative working with a range of health and social care professionals.
You'll experience a wide range of practice placements and you'll also have the opportunity to work interprofessionally with departments that also care for adults, such as theatres and outpatients.
Most of the lecturers who facilitate your learning are nurses from a variety of different specialist backgrounds within adult nursing.
By the end of the course, you'll have developed a strong understanding of a wide range of health issues that people may face and you'll know how to deal with them effectively, to intervene quickly or early enough to reduce the chances of future health problems.
In line with NMC requirements you will be required to successfully complete all elements of each year of the course before progressing to the next year.
