About

Study our adult nursing degree for a rewarding career in the care profession.

Adult nurses provide a constant source of support and care to patients. Our degree in adult nursing prepares you for the role and responsibilities as a registered nurse. You'll be working in the NHS serving in Kent.

We provide you with the skills to meet the needs of patients and their significant others. This will include experience in the hospital, independent and the home environment. You will learn accountability for the important role you will play in their lives. Adult nurses provide a constant source of support and care to patients and their families.

We prepare you to apply for registration as a nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Our degree will help you achieve the outcomes identified in the NMC Standards for Pre-registration Nurse Education (2019).

All nursing students on courses from September 2020 will benefit from guaranteed, additional support of at least £5,000 a year, which they will not need to pay back. See more information.

Academic entry requirements

Applicants who have completed the national schooling system typically require foundation, please refer to UGIC.

For some courses, you will need to have studied relevant subjects at school/college to be eligible. Our admissions team will determine this once you apply.

Careers and placements

Will I have a work placement?

We offer either a hospital or community route through the Adult Nursing programme in order for you to tailor your placement experience to your future career aspirations. You will also have the opportunity to undertake placements within out of hospital settings such as Primary Care and community nursing.

How long is my placement?

You will spend 50% of your time each year in these valuable work placements. Here you will learn the vital importance of communication and team work with other staff members.

What sort of careers do graduates pursue?

Adult nursing is a challenging yet extremely rewarding career where you will work with a diverse range of acute and long-term illness in adults, in addition to promoting healthy lifestyles for all.

Adult nurses play a prominent role in hospitals and communities as part of a multi-professional team. They care for patients and clients in a variety of hospital and primary care settings. These include acute medical and surgical wards, operating theatres, Emergency Departments, high-dependency environments, nursing homes and district nursing. During clinical placements, students promote health maintenance and restoration.

As an adult nurse, you may decide to work in a hospital or community setting and this programme prepares you with transferable skills knowledge for all settings as a newly qualified nurse. Alternatively, you may wish to specialise in an area such as intensive care, nursing homes or district nursing.
