    About

    Our internationally recognised Adult Nursing degree course will give you the skills and experience to launch a rewarding career in this diverse and essential profession. Over the course of this carefully-integrated, three year BSc programme, you will learn about the holistic needs of people from early adulthood until old age and develop the professional skills to provide high quality nursing care in in a range of clinical and community settings. Half of your teaching takes place in the university and the other half in healthcare settings. We have excellent working relationships with many healthcare providers, so you will have access to a wide range of clinical experiences across south west Wales. These include placements in the NHS and independent sector in hospitals and community settings. *International only:

    Typical A-level Offer

    Minimum BBB - BCC at A level. Health or science-related courses are desirable. We accept Welsh Baccalaureate as an A-level

    Typical Access to HE Offer

    Offer will range between 120-104 UCAS points

    Please note, our grade range covers standard and contextual offers. If you meet one (or more) of our eligibility criteria for contextual offers, you will be made a lower offer. This will still be within the stated grade range. Please see our contextual admissions page for further information.

    A minimum of five grade A-C GCSE passes including Welsh/English language, Maths and a Physical Science or Double Award Science are required.

    In certain circumstances Key Skills Level 2 in Application of Number will be accepted in lieu of GCSE Mathematics and Key Skills Level 2 in Communication will be accepted in lieu of GCSE Welsh/English Language, if undertaken since September 2015.

    You will also need to demonstrate:

    • A strong educational profile in the previous three to five years
    • A detailed understanding of and commitment to Adult Nursing
    • Care experience is helpful but not essential
    • You will be expected to participate in group discussions, teamwork and individual tasks during interviews

    There is no advantage in applying to both Swansea and Carmarthen and we advise only applying to your preferred location.

    Please ensure you have an IELTS score of 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each component before starting the programme (this is an NMC requirement).

    Application and interview

    All applicants will need a satisfactory educational reference.

    Applicants who meet the entry requirements and selection criteria will be invited to interview, which may take place in person or via telephone/video call. Our Interview Tips explain more about what to expect.

    All applicants will be required to have a more detailed check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and an occupational health check. Any concerns arising from these can be considered in the School of Health and Social Care's Suitability and Appropriateness for Professional Practice Panel and may lead to the withdrawal of a place on the programme.

    English Program Requirements

    All students must demonstrate that they have achieved a certain level of English before starting their programme. You will need to provide a recognised English language test or qualification before you can be accepted to Swansea University

    Specific English requirements are listed on each course page under the 'entry requirements' section. Our English Language requirements are listed as IELTS scores but we accept the wide range of other English language tests shown below.

    Please note that some research scholarship, funded positions, may require a higher English Language test score than standard to be obtained prior to enrolment or held at the point of application.     If your English scores do not exactly meet our requirements, you could still be accepted if you successfully complete an English Language Pre-sessional Programme at Swansea’s English Language Training Services (ELTS) at the required level before starting your academic programme.
