Advanced Contact Lenses - Standalone module - Professional courses/CPD

This course is for you if you are a clinician in the field of optometry and are looking to develop your knowledge in contact lenses. You will explore topics such as enhanced contact lens, orthokeratology and advances in contact lens materials.

The module will cover best practice in:

• Contact lens record keeping
• Advances in contact lens materials
• Contact lens complications and their management (including issues of compliance and how to minimise contact lens drop-outs)
• Modern RGP and semi-scleral/scleral fitting
• Advances in understanding of soft contact lens fit (including toric lens stability)
• Contact lenses for presbyopia
• Myopia control and fitting children
• Orthokeratology
• Therapeutic contact lens use
• Drug delivery and other uses of contact lenses.

Different approaches to management of patients will be examined along with how they might be implemented in practice. The most common conditions requiring advanced contact lens practice will be discussed, including methods that help to differently diagnose common and unusual problems.

To be accepted onto our programmes, you must be able to satisfy the University's English language requirements. The level required will depend on the programme you are applying for. We strive to make your application process as easy as possible, however in all cases we reserve the right to request an English language qualification and / or conduct an interview.
