Applied Professional Practice – Bachelor of Business

The Applied Professional Practice major is the first of its kind in New Zealand. Designed with input from many New Zealand organisations and industries, it combines the existing strengths of Massey’s leading business undergraduate degree with innovative practical elements.

When you study the Bachelor of Business (Applied Professional Practice) you will learn business principles and concepts and put them into practice to develop professional skillsets and critical thinking skills enabling you to make informed strategic choices.

You will:

• Build interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Build a portfolio of employment-related documents.
• Gain an understanding of your own strengths.
• Apply theoretical knowledge to analyse problems and suggest solutions.
• Work on business simulations with real data.
• Engage with local, national, and global business sustainability challenges.
• Work with business clients to respond to real-world challenges.

We’ll teach you to think independently and analytically, helping you understand how to seek and use a range of resources and information to solve challenging issues.

Because Massey University’s teachers are actively researching, you will be taught the most relevant perspectives, from influential academics, in the most experienced environment. We are also partnering with a range of Aotearoa NZ businesses to give you authentic learning experiences throughout the major.

The Bachelor of Business will give you the leadership, communication and critical thinking skills that will make you a sought-after employee. It will give you skills you can use in many different types of businesses, in New Zealand and around the world.

In the major, the three practical courses and the internships offer the opportunity to reflect on promising business practice and engage with local enterprises, adding more practical experience to your CV than an internship alone, and enhancing your employability prospects.
