    About

    A sociology degree will start your journey to a career that makes a difference. Our expert lecturers will help you explore how our experiences are shaped by class, gender and race - and how this is changing in the 21st century. You'll graduate with the ability to analyse social structures, ready to positively impact issues at a local, national and global level.

    This BSc Sociology course examines our world and seeks to understand how identities, relationships and practices are formed. You'll have the option to specialise by studying modules in subjects like:

    • criminology

    • anthropology

    • politics

    • geography

    • languages

    Your core modules will help you develop key knowledge and skills, including:

    • theoretical approaches and different perspectives in sociology

    • the relationship between individuals, groups and institutions

    • research methods in social sciences, including quantitative and qualitative research

    As part of your degree you can:

    • study abroad for a semester at a partner university in Brazil, Canada or China

    • study a minor subject, such as psychology, alongside your main degree

    • study modules from other areas, such as languages or international relations

    • make a difference by getting involved with our Social Impact Lab

    Bachelors degree awarded by a recognised institution

    UK 1st equivalent: 3.65 out of 4.0 or 85%-100%; 4.5 out of 5.0 or 85 -100%

    UK 2.1 equivalent: 3.0 out of 4.0 or 76%-85%; 3.75 out of 5.0 or 80-85%

    Students who have achieved a GPA 2.80 out of 4.0 or 3.5 out of 5.0 with 2 years' work experience may be considered

    Career

    90% of our archaeology master's graduates are in employment or further study 6 months after graduation (Destination of Leavers from Higher Education Survey).

    Your research project could set you on the road to an academic or research career, and could end up being published in an academic journal. Many of our graduates go on to complete PhD studies.

    You'll gain lots of practical, vocational experience on the course. Most students go on to work in archaeology, the heritage industry and science. Job roles have included:
