    Course Delivery

    Delivered full-time over three years, you will follow a carefully-designed suite of modules to develop your technical skills and build your theoretical knowledge. You will study architectural theory alongside practical design projects, delivered in a collaborative studio culture that reflects how contemporary architecture firms work:

    • In year one, you will receive anintroductionto the architectural design process using a range of built environment modules, workingalongside students from across our built environment and architecture courses
    • As you progress to year two, you will use advanced software packages and technology, to managedesign information and developdesign skills. You will also experience a multi-disciplinary project to further develop your experience of collaborative working, which is standard practice in an architectural technologist's career
    • In your final year, you will continue to develop your design portfolio, with the opportunity to present and interact with industry. As part of your final assessment, you will also complete a research design final project on a subject of your choice

    Industry Placement

    On this course, you will have the option to take an industry placement between years two and three. Although you will be responsible for securing your own placement, our tutors will support you all the way, from helping you to applyto providing support while you are on placement.

  • Explore digital technologies shaping the profession, as you gain hands-on experience using key equipment and software packages used by industry professionals
  • Enhance your knowledge and eye for good design as you build an awareness of materials, industry regulations, contemporary production methods and end-user requirements
  • Explore the role of nature, people and technology in design, and the physical, legal, economic, social and environmental dimensions that impact on the building design process
  • Develop key skills in project appraisal, team working, critical analysis and problem solving as you prepare for a professional career role

    Entry Requirements

    Applicants who have successfully passed a diploma from a community college, intermediate diploma or associate degree with an overall mark of C+ or better will be considered for undergraduate entry.

    English Program Requirements

    Equivalent qualifications

    English language requirements are shown on individual course pages. Generally, this is shown as an IELTS grade, however we accept a range of equivalent qualifications. 

    As a general guide:

    For undergraduate courses we require IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum 5.5 in each component) or equivalent

    For postgraduate courses, we require IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum 5.5 in each component) or equivalent

    For the International Foundation Year, we require IELTS 4.5 (with a minimum 4.0 in each component) in UKVI IELTS for UKVI (Academic)

    The approved equivalent qualifications list includes the following: 

    Secure English Language Tests (SELTs) 

    University of Salford English language courses

    Regional-based qualifications

    Majority English Speaking Countries as deemed by UKVI

    Medium of English Institutions

    Applicants who require a Student Route visa to study in the UK may require evidence of a Secure English Language test rather than an examination or qualification due to visa requirements, as deemed by the UK Government Home Office, Visa and Immigration (UKVI).
