About

Becoming an Architectural Technologist requires specialist skills and confidence on our new BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology course youll gain those skills and knowledge to help construction design teams bring new structures to life.

Based at UCA Canterburys School of Architecture and Design, youll learn a wide range of spatial practices, and the value that an Architectural Technologist can add to architectural practice and society more widely. As well as having access to our extensive facilities, including advanced forms of fabrication and prototyping, the latest scanning and VR technology, and traditional crafts, youll also learn advanced forms of digital modelling and control, such as building information modelling (BIM), using these tools to develop your own individual approaches to challenges of building construction and detail.

Along the way youll be guided by our team of academics and a wide range of industry professionals, and collaborative opportunities alongside students across the School of Architecture and Design will give you an enriched experience where specialised learning is combined with new perspectives and approaches to broaden your own horizons.

As part of the course, you'll benefit from interaction with industry through live project opportunities, masterclasses, and optionally - professional work experience placement, if you choose the Professional Practice Year pathway building industry-relevant skills to ensure that you graduate ready for the workplace.

You can submit your UCAS application, from mid-September, the year before your course begins.

The UCAS equal consideration deadline for applications for courses starting in September is normally the last Wednesday in January. We give equal consideration to all applications we receive by this deadline. But, if we still have places available after this date, we'll consider late applications, too.

If you apply through UCAS, they'll acknowledge your application and forward it to us. You can track the progress of your application through UCAS Track.

When we get your application (directly, or via UCAS), we’ll send you an email with your login details for the applicant portal. This is where you'll access all the information you'll need through your applicant journey.

If you’re based in the UK, we will then invite you to an in-person portfolio review at an Applicant Day, where you’ll have the chance to get to know your peers, view student work, and gain all the information you need and want about life at UCA.

If you’re located outside of the UK, or if you would prefer not to attend an Applicant Day, you will be able to submit your portfolio digitally. Your portfolio review is an opportunity for you to show us your talents and potential - full advice on how to put together your portfolio can be found here.
