Overview The Art Education: Professional Certification program at Syracuse University provide each graduate student with opportunities for growth as an artist, teacher and researcher through the development of their own arts practices and through the study of philosophical, cognitive, socio-cultural and political implications of the arts in society and education.Why Arts Education at Syracuse?Complete your degree in 15 months!Prepares students for teaching diverse students in 21st century classrooms. From experiences in university classrooms, online, and in schools and communities, you will learn to design inclusive, culturally relevant pedagogy for all students.Work closely with nationally recognized faculty and artists in a program accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.Opportunities for community involvement and youth mentorship, including the Saturday Art Workshops for Young People.Participate in EDU Sims, which are standardized simulations of common interactions in classroom and school environments to help you identify your strengths and develop your professional skills.Take part in School of Education short-term study abroad programs around the world. Through the Himan Brown Fellowship, School of Education students are also eligible for exclusive funding to support study abroad experiences.Small student cohorts and a highly engaged alumni network mean you get to know your teachers and peers who will become your lifelong colleagues.Because you will be a student in two different schools within Syracuse University, you will receive advising support and faculty expertise from both the School of Education and the School of Art, including academic advising support, teacher certification, and job search support.The local chapter of the National Art Education Association (NAEA) provides opportunities for professional development, hosting guest speakers and promoting and practicing outreach and community service through the arts.
