    About

    Choose from a range of Arts subjects for a degree with multifaceted perspectives. Youll examine areas central to contemporary society, including tradition, culture, theology, law, politics, communication, human-environment relations, and human behavior. Youll graduate with an honours degree in International Languages (DC293), this course is described in more detail in the About the Course tab above. Youll have the option to take a year abroad, extending your degree to four years and graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (Joint Honours) International. Internship Year You can opt to apply for a year-long INTRA work placement in Year Three. This will give you a unique opportunity to enhance your CV, increase your employability and experience the relevance of your study in the real world. This option is competitive and subject to the availability of placements.     Entry Requirements

    Applicants presenting with GCE A Levels or the IB Diploma may be considered for direct entry into Undergraduate programmes at DCU. 

    Applicants who have completed an alternative qualification from this nation may be considered for direct entry into Undergraduate programmes at DCU.

     

    English Program Requirements

    In the case of all applications, evidence MUST be provided of competence in the English language. The list below indicates the minimum standards in the English language, which should be met for entry to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in DCU.

    Graduates in International Languages (French, German, or Spanish), and the culture(s) associated with the chosen language acquire the requisite knowledge and skills to seek employment in a broad range of careers. 

    In addition, they acquire the knowledge and skills to pursue postgraduate studies in Cultural Studies, Education (Post primary), Literary Studies, Language Studies, Translation Studies, Intercultural Studies, and International Relations.

    Postgraduate

    Apply through the Postgraduate Applications Portal. A fee of €50 applies. Make sure you read all the instructions carefully before you start your application.

    4. Upload Supplemental items (documents) 

    Once you have completed your application you will receive updates from the International on the progress of your application.

    The deadline for postgraduate applications is July 1st in any given year.

    International Foundation Programme

    Pre-sessional English programmes

    If you have a conditional offer of a place at DCU, but don’t satisfy DCU’s English language requirements, you may be able to take a five-week or 10-week presessional English programme on the DCU campus. Once you successfully complete this programme, you can progress to your full-time DCU programme.
