Overview

• Gain the knowledge to explore the nature and causes of crime, examine the function of the criminal justice system and develop skills for researching crime and crime-related issues.
• Learn about current crime intervention and prevention strategies through the criminal justice system and external agencies, and benefit from opportunities to engage with professionals working within the criminal justice sector and associated agencies.
• In preparation for your career, obtain industry experience and develop work-ready skills in areas such as crime scene investigation, research design, policy development, critical analysis, communications, and working with vulnerable populations.

Pre-requisites

To study this degree we assume you have sound knowledge in:

• English (Units 3 & 4, C) 

We assume that your knowledge is equivalent to a grade C or higher in Units 3 and 4 at high school level (typically studied in Year 12). Find out more about assumed knowledge.

English Language Proficiency tests should not be older than two years upon application.

• Criminology and criminal justice graduates apply their specialist knowledge in a variety of industries and professions including the criminal justice system, child protection, crime research, strategic planning and development, policy development, security, research, government agencies, non-government organisations, and private enterprises.
• Your degree in criminology and criminal justice presents you with a diverse range of employment opportunities. Some prospective roles include policy development and advice, working directly with people involved in formal criminal justice institutions, developing social justice initiatives in the voluntary or charitable sector, developing and implementing law reform, and conducting criminological research.

To apply to study, you will need to submit your application either via QTAC or directly to UniSQ.

• If you're applying for the Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Paramedicine or Bachelor of Midwifery, you will need to apply via QTAC. 
• If you are applying for an undergraduate program with UniSQ as a Domestic student, you are new to UniSQ, you are in Year 12 or completed Year 12 the year prior to commencing your study, or it's been a while since you left school, apply through QTAC.
• If you have previously studied at UniSQ or have completed a Certificate III or higher with TAFE QLD, you can apply directly to UniSQ.
• If you're an International student, you can apply directly to UniSQ.
• If you are applying to study a postgraduate program with UniSQ you will need to submit your application directly to UniSQ via the online application portal.
