    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

International Baccalaureate: Achieve 32 points overall. Must include 5 in one of the following subjects: standard level Mathematics; standard level Mathematics: analysis and approaches, standard level Mathematics: applications and interpretations.

Each course has specific entry criteria. For some you will need to have a certain level of knowledge in a subject before you begin the degree – this is called a subject requirement. Entry onto all courses is dependent on you reaching a particular standard in your education and achieving certain exam grades.

Most courses will list a typical offer with their course information. Entry to all courses at the University of Reading is competitive, so even if you hold (or are predicted to achieve) grades matching our typical offer, you are not guaranteed an offer of a place on a degree course.

Note that entry requirements shown on our course pages are only an indicator. We sometimes update entry requirements throughout the year, so check online or contact the Admissions Office for the latest information. In addition, we treat each application on individual merit, so don’t rule yourself out.

If you are unsure whether your predicted grades would be acceptable for entry, contact our Admissions Office staff for advice. If you are made an offer of a place, the conditions that you need to meet to take up your place on the course will be detailed in your offer letter.

We welcome students presenting the IB diploma. If you are offered a place, we will specify an overall score that you will need to achieve. Where a course requires specific-subject knowledge equivalent to A level, you will be asked to achieve a particular grade at higher level.

    English Program Requirements

TOEFL (Test of English as a foreign language): overall score of 88 with no less than 17 in Listening and Writing, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking

IELTS (British Council International English Language Test): Score of 6.5 overall with no less than 5.5 in any component of the test.

    Career

Fast track your way to a professional qualification

As a BA Accounting and Business graduate you will have completed 12 out of the 15 professional exams required to become an ICAEW Charted Accountant.

The professional experience gained during your work placements with PwC also counts towards more than half of the technical work experience days required as part of the ICAEW Chartered Accountant qualification.

This means that on graduating, you will be approximately one year away from achieving full ICAEW Chartered Accountant status - putting you ahead of other graduates entering the accounting profession.

    Career progression

There is no obligation for you to work at PwC after completing the programme, though graduates who achieve a 2:1 and impress on their work placements are likely to be offered a permanent job with the firm.

As a BA Accounting and Business graduate, you can expect a competitive starting salary on account of the practical experience you have gained as well as your progress towards completion of the ICAEW Chartered Accountant qualification.
