Morley College London has a reputation for delivering high quality courses in the visual and digital arts with an emphasis on creativity through vocational, practical and essential skills and an ethos of inclusivity to a richly diverse range of adult learners. The Fashion BA (Hons) Top-Up curriculum encourages innovative thinking and visual intelligence while ensuring a comprehensive foundation maintaining the balance between design and production required for engagement with the industry. Students develop conceptual practice alongside practical skills for increased employability and enterprise or in support of independent entrepreneurship. An enthusiasm and enjoyment of fashion will stimulate self-motivation is the foundation for academic and practical achievement, supported by high levels of tutor-student contact and strong pastoral support. With an emphasis on studio practice and small group delivery, students will employ materials, techniques, methods, and technologies associated with fashion studies. Project briefs designed to inspire conceptual development and encourage experimentation through 2D and 3D processes allow students to strengthen their practice and build the confidence to extend their boundaries through independent investigations and collaborative projects. Students will explore the juxtaposition of the idealistic and the realistic through personal research and analysis, distilling their work into a cohesive professional identity articulated through the development and realisation of final outcomes. The curriculum is designed and implemented by specialist tutors with strong links to the fashion industry and extensive professional experience to impart to the students. Our team includes respected members of industry, with knowledge and experience as independent designers, makers, buyers and fashion consultants. Some have worked with the world’s leading fashion houses, designer boutiques or publications, while others have presented their collections on the catwalk at New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week or London Collections: Men. The overarching concept of Creativity and Commerce will underpin the course material across all units of study.
