BA (Hons) Physical Education

About

Only 15.5% of children are achieving the recommended 60 minutes of sport and physical activity a day. Physical Education at UCFB provides students with a pathway to change this and make a real difference by inspiring the next generation of children to get away from their mobile phone and out into the park. This degree is designed for those with a passion for physical activity, exercise and sport to carve a future in physical education teaching and leadership.

Teachers of physical education can teach across the world and are in great demand because physical education is a compulsory subject at every UK key stage in school. The current government aim is to increase activity levels to make physical activity a lifelong pursuit.

Requirements

Entry Requirements

A minimum of 2 A Levels including two C grades
A BTEC Extended diploma grade DMM
A BTEC Diploma grade D*D*
A combination of BTEC and A-Level qualifications with at least two C graded A levels or Merit graded BTEC equivalents.
International applicants will be asked to achieve Duolingo 95 or IELTS for UKVI at grade 6.0 overall or above.
International Baccalaureate (minimum of 30 points)
An Advanced GNVQ in an appropriate subject at Distinction level
An Access Course: minimum of 60 credits, including at least 45 at Level 3
An equivalent level 3 qualification

Career

Career paths include progressing onto a PGCE course to complete teacher training or joining a graduate teacher training programme. Alternatively, graduates could work through the non-qualified teacher route; working in the physical activity or health sector as a personal trainer, wellness facilitator or for sports delivery companies e.g. Sport co-ordinators in clubs and schools.

As part of the application process, we require the following documents:

A personal statement (preferably no fewer than 500 words) detailing your reasons for wanting to study your chosen course;
Copies of transcripts of highest qualification achieved and English translations (if applicable). At GIS we accept and assess applications on an individual basis. With this in mind, we can consider professional experience in lieu of formal qualifications;
One academic and one professional reference and English translation (if applicable);
Copy of proof of English language level e.g. Academic IELTS certificate (if applicable).

International applications should also include:

A colour copy of a valid passport;
Copies of any previous or current UK visas.
