Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Ancient History

The achievements of our ancient ancestors, as well as the challenges they encountered and the ways in which they responded to such challenges, provide valuable lessons for each and every one of us. With a broad and rich understanding of ancient times, we can better understand who we are today and where we are going in the future.

This major provides a foundation in the study of the societies of Egypt and the Near East, as well as those of Greece, Rome and Late Antiquity, and allows you to choose units that interest you from a range of exciting subjects. It will also provide you with key skills for your future, including analytical skills, initiative and judgement, independent decision-making, presentation and argumentation, self-reflection and an enduring lifelong ability to study ancient history.

For international students, Macquarie uses a selection rank to determine the minimum eligibility requirement for each undergraduate course. This rank has been converted into equivalent scores for various recognised international high school qualifications and university entrance examinations, including global qualifications like the International Baccalaureate (IB) and GCE A-Levels.
