Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Modern History

    About

Modern history is the study of the history of the world beginning after the Middle Ages. It examines the social, political and economic realities of the modern age. Studying modern history gives you a rich perspective on the evolution of today’s complex and rapidly evolving world.

The Modern History major will provide you with valuable skills in research, analysing evidence and retrieving information. You’ll also develop capabilities in change management, critical and analytical thinking, communication, cultural awareness, problem solving, social engagement and sound judgement. First-year units provide a broad introduction to modern history in Australian, European and world history. Upper-level units reflect Macquarie’s strengths in world history, postcolonial history, media history, European history and Australian history.

    Entry Requirements

For international students, Macquarie uses a selection rank to determine the minimum eligibility requirement for each undergraduate course. This rank has been converted into equivalent scores for various recognised international high school qualifications and university entrance examinations, including global qualifications like the International Baccalaureate (IB) and GCE A-Levels.

For more information on how this score is converted for your qualification, please see our academic entry requirements for international students.
