    In your undergraduate degree you will focus on quantity surveying, construction management, building technology, building structures, building surveying and housing studies, developing the knowledge and skills to work professionally in quantity or building surveying.

    In your honours year you'll complete a major research project in your specialisation of interest, which will lead to recognition by different accrediting bodies:

    • quantity surveying
    • building surveying
    • construction management

    You will also have the opportunity to apply what you have learnt throughout your degree in real-world settings through the UniSA STEM Professional Practice Program.

    Progressing on to your postgraduate studies you will advance your knowledge and skills in contemporary management practice and have the opportunity to develop expertise in the following areas:

    • construction manager: overseeing and allocating resources for construction projects; working with architects and engineers to check plans and blueprints; managing timetables; determining material and labour costs; liaising with and hiring subcontractors and workers
    • estimator: compiling cost estimates based on variables such as labour, materials and equipment; working out how much a project is likely to cost and creating budgets; analysing different quotes from sub-contractors and suppliers
    • construction planner: developing time plans on construction projects so the project is completed safely, on time and within budget; thinking critically; working with managers and engineers to discuss progress and address issues that arise; organising the stages of construction development

    Undergraduate – you must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 program or an equivalent program in your home country or a recognised Pathway or Foundation Studies Program. If you are an international student studying Year 12 in Australia you need to apply via the South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre (SATAC).

    Postgraduate – At a minimum you must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree, to the required standard, from a recognised higher institution in Australian or the international equivalent and/or the equivalent professional work experience. The University offers both coursework and research degrees.
