    This course is designed for individuals aiming to excel in construction project management and related fields.     You will gain comprehensive project management skills, applicable across various sectors, enhancing your employability. The course includes a mandatory 200 days of industry experience, often as paid cadetships, providing you with valuable professional insight.

    You will learn through a combination of practical experience and theoretical knowledge, with options to expand your expertise through electives in business, environmental, international, and Aboriginal studies. This approach ensures a well-rounded professional development.

    Upon completion, you will be equipped for roles such as project manager, quantity surveyor, and property developer, with opportunities in both private and public sectors. You will be prepared to collaborate with a range of professionals and organisations, positioning you as a key player in the construction industry.

    The emphasis on the utilisation of digital technologies, such as building information modelling, ensures that students understand the leading-edge advances that are being implemented in the industry. All students are required to complete a minimum of 200 days' industry experience during the course, providing essential professional exposure. For the vast majority of students this entails paid employment in the industry with contractors and consultants (typically called cadetships). To broaden their personal and professional outlook, students can also choose electives or a sub-major in a range of disciplines outside construction project management, including business studies, environmental studies, international studies and Aboriginal studies.

    This course is concerned with the management of all aspects of the construction process, including project management, construction management, design management, business management, quantity surveying, contract administration and property development. It delivers all the recognised competencies for construction project management professionals while introducing the opportunities to diversify into project management fields in other industry sectors.

    Admission requirements

    Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification, Australian Qualifications Framework Diploma, or equivalent Australian or overseas qualification at the required level.

    The Faculty-based adjustment scheme awards ten (10) adjustment points to female applicants.

    Students who have completed a TAFE Diploma in one the following areas will receive five (5) adjustment points: Building/Planning/Architectural Technology/Design/Architectural Drafting/Civil Engineering/Project Management.

    UTS: Design, Architecture and Building may consider applications based on the results of the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) if students lack academic qualifications but have extensive professional experience. The STAT is conducted through Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER).

    Students must refer to the inherent requirements for all degrees offered by Design and Architecture in the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building.

    The English proficiency requirement for international students or local applicants with international qualifications is: IELTS Academic: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0; or TOEFL iBT: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21; or AE5: Pass; or PTE: 58-64 with a writing score of 50; or C1A/C2P: 176-184 with a writing score of 169.

    International students

    Visa requirement: To obtain a student visa to study in Australia, international students must enrol full time and on campus. Australian student visa regulations also require international students studying on student visas to complete the course within the standard full-time duration. Students can extend their courses only in exceptional circumstances.
