In this degree, you'll gain practical, cutting-edge skills and knowledge to make the most of your career opportunities within an exciting industry. Learn from industry leaders and fast track your creative career. This degree is delivered in partnership with Channel 44 and Mercury Cinema.

    • Combine hands-on production classes with the study of film and television modes of expression, histories, and forms
    • Learn about the film and television industries “from the inside” – how they work, and how you can work within them
    • Learn from industry professionals and be mentored by successful alumni working in the film and television industries
    • Benefit from placement opportunities in local production and exhibition sectors
    • Combine your study of film and television with other creative arts topics (drama, creative writing), or other disciplines within the College (English, history, languages)
    • Use your degree to transfer to the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Screen) in your second or third year of study.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    The minimum entry requirement is comparable to an ATAR of 65, please note that some Flinders programs require higher than a comparable ATAR of 65. For further information please see the individual requirements for programs on the course listings.

    Prerequisite subject requirements

    Credit for previous university studies is granted at the discretion of the faculty that administers a chosen course. If you are seeking credit or exemption you will need to provide detailed subject outlines of studies completed.

    If you do not meet the necessary academic requirements you may enrol in a Foundation Program at Flinders International Study Centre (FISC).

     

    English Program Requirements

    If you don’t meet our English language entry requirements and need to improve your English language proficiency, you can do so through our approved English Language Instruction Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) providers. This means that you can attend the required English language tuition at approved ELICOS providers and gain direct entry into university without an IELTS or TOEFL test.

    Career

    This degree is an ‘all-rounder' combining hands-on production skills with critical analysis, and a high-level study of media industries. You can specialise in a particular aspect of production, and graduate prepared to step into the film and television industries (production and postproduction), or distribution, exhibition and administration (film festivals, film distributors, project development, policy advisors etc.)
