Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary)

    About

Early childhood teachers provide young children with a strong foundation for learning, and help them develop their social and emotional skills. Primary teachers build on these capabilities, helping children develop their literacy and numeracy skills; as well as their physical, arts, social and emotional competencies.

The Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary) is part of an innovative suite of new education degrees being pioneered by Macquarie. Streamlined and future focused, the degrees provide the opportunity to undertake full-time employment as a conditionally accredited teacher during fourth year. Your studies will be integrated into your work via a hybrid program of ‘learn, plan, do, reflect’ cycles delivered through education networks helmed by expert teachers. In your first year, you’ll study a set of core units that explore inclusive practices, technology in the classroom, cultural and linguistic diversity, sustainability teaching, the integration of Indigenous knowledge in the classroom, and how children learn. You’ll also undertake your first professional experience placement. In your second and third years, you’ll study units focused on early childhood education and primary teaching. The streamlined nature of the degree, in conjunction with the extensive placements, means you’ll graduate wholly equipped with the knowledge and skills to manage modern early childhood education and primary school settings.

What is an International selection Rank?

Your home country score is converted into an Australian selection rank. Our qualification converter tool can help you calculate the minimum score you need for your entry.

How do I know if my qualification is recognised?

Macquarie University recognises a range of international academic qualifications for direct entry to our courses, including:

What if I don’t meet the academic requirements?

You may still qualify for admission under our International Academic Entry Program (IAEP), which considers your overall performance and your results in specific subjects relevant to your selected studies.

    Entry pathways into Macquarie

We also offer foundation programs, undergraduate certificates and diplomas through the Macquarie University College that will prepare you for a seamless transition into a bachelor degree.

    English language requirements

All Macquarie University applicants are required to provide evidence of English language proficiency. The standard of English required for entry is based on the IELTS Academic test. Other accepted evidence of English proficiency, including minimum scores on other English tests and qualifications, can be checked using the conversion tool.

The required standard of English for entry is:

If you receive a packaged offer, you can apply for a single student visa covering both your English preparation program and your course.
