    About

    The Bachelor of Global Logistics and Maritime Management with Honours provides outstanding undergraduate students with an extra year of advanced study and research, enhancing their knowledge and analytical skills in the field of maritime and logistics management.

    The course includes both coursework units and an Honours dissertation. Honours is an intensive, one-year course designed to be challenging and is available to students with a superior performance in their undergraduate course. It will further develop their skills, broaden their knowledge base, and enable them to demonstrate their initiative, organisation, and motivation to potential employers.

    During your undergraduate studies, you have probably discovered an aptitude for some subjects more than others or developed a passion for a particular field in which you want to build your career. Studying Honours allows you to develop these areas further through the dissertation, building on the theories studied in your undergraduate course. The dissertation you prepare will be leading research in your chosen field, ensuring your ideas are at the forefront of current thinking. Such specialist knowledge will enable you to develop your career based on your particular aptitudes and interests.

    Simultaneously, you will be demonstrating an ability to undertake advanced units of study. Within the Honours course, you can, for example, undertake a postgraduate coursework unit of your choice. Other coursework units will build your research skills and understanding of contemporary issues in the maritime and logistics industries. The Honours course is highly regarded, as graduates have specialist knowledge and advanced skills that are sought after by industry.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    Admission to Honours courses at the University of Tasmania require qualifications equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree. Applicants must achieve the required grade in their qualifying studies, meet any prerequisite subjects and the English language requirements to be eligible for an offer. Admission is conditional on research project and supervisor availability.

    English Language Requirements

    For students who do not meet the English Language Requirement through citizenship or prior studies in English in an approved country, evidence of an approved English language test completed within the last 2 years must be provided.     Course Specific Requirements

    Bachelor of Business or Bachelor of Global Logistics and Maritime Management or equivalent degree with a minimum average of a credit level in third year units. Acceptance into the Honours year will be subject to the availability of a suitable supervisor for the Honours dissertation.

    English Program Requirements

    • Applicants who qualify from a University of Tasmania program, and intend to gain professional registration to become a practitioner in Australia, may need to meet the relevant Professional Accrediting Agency's English language registration standard.
    • In exceptional circumstances or cases not covered by the categories outlined below, multiple forms of evidence may be considered on a case by case basis by the Executive Director, Student Operations in consultation with the Director, Academic Quality and Standards.
    • The University reserves the right to require that any applicant be required to undergo a test of English language.

    Accreditation and Professional Recognition

Each AMC course is informed by an Industry Advisory Committee. Membership of the advisory committee includes industry leaders, associations and past graduates.

    Graduates of the course are eligible for credit exemption when pursuing the professional qualification from the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS).

    Graduates may be eligible to receive a professional certification awarded by the International Association of Maritime and Port Executives (IAMPE) USA.
