    About

    Medical Scientists with Business strengths are leaders in creating, developing and taking to the public or market, solutions to health and medical problems. This course is tailored for these individuals aiming to excel in both medical science and business, equipping them with the expertise to lead in health and medical sectors.

    You have the choice of specialising in Medical and Health-related Sciences or Pathology, aligning your studies with your career aspirations. Together with essential business related subjects , in your chosen major, you'll explore the human body, disease mechanisms, medical technologies, and public health initiatives, or how diseases trigger biochemical or cellular changes in the body and how to best diagnose and treat these diseases.

    You will acquire a robust set of skills, including scientific techniques in state-of-the-art laboratories, critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication. These transferrable skills are not only relevant to scientific inquiry but also vital for business acumen, preparing you for a multitude of roles.

    As a graduate, with professional qualification in both medical sciences and business, and your learning experience combining practical laboratory work with the development of professional competencies, you will be well-prepared for the workforce. Graduates can pursue careers in various sectors, such as medical research, pharmaceuticals, clinical trials, science communication, and beyond, with potential employers ranging from IT firms to government agencies.

    The aim of this combined degree is to produce graduates with professional qualifications in both medical science and business, to enable them to practise in both areas. Graduates who can cross the divide between medical science and business are highly sought after by employers because they not only have scientific and business skills, but also have transferable skills such as analytical, critical thinking and communication skills.

    Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification, Australian Qualifications Framework Diploma, or equivalent Australian or overseas qualification at the required level.

    The English proficiency requirement for international students or local applicants with international qualifications is: IELTS Academic: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0; or TOEFL iBT: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21; or AE5: Pass; or PTE: 58-64 with a writing score of 50; or C1A/C2P: 176-184 with a writing score of 169.

    International students

    Visa requirement: To obtain a student visa to study in Australia, international students must enrol full time and on campus. Australian student visa regulations also require international students studying on student visas to complete the course within the standard full-time duration. Students can extend their courses only in exceptional circumstances.
