The program consists of both theoretical and practical components. Through your studies, you'll gain proficiency in patient care, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making. In your final year, you can attend clinical placement in specialsed areas such as paediatrics or critical care, aligning your education with your career aspirations.
Clinical learning is a key element of the course and clinical placements in health care settings begin in the Spring session of first year and continue every session thereafter. Simulation-based learning opportunities are integral to the course and designed to ensure you graduate as a competent, practice-ready nurse.
In the fourth year of the combined degree, you will spend an academic year studying in the local language at a university in the country of their major. You will also complete an honours level research project under the supervision of an appropriate UTS academic.
Entry to the International Honours pathway is dependent on you maintaining a credit average (or higher) in both your International Studies and nursing degree in your first three years of study, and on the availability of placements in the countries related to your major.
