    About

    Overview

    • Preserve and protect our wildlife with hands-on courses in Wildlife Management.
    • Learn to identify, handle and trap wildlife from experts in our team of industry-leading lecturers.
    • Develop field safety, transport and survival skills, how to use trapping equipment, and learn survey techniques to record, analyse and present field data.
    • Gain diverse practical skills during a field trip in your first year, wildlife industry placements, and a third-year research project undertaken in an overseas location or within Australia.
    • Combine with a second major in Animal Science, Biology, or Environment and Sustainability, and be skilled to work in pest management, national parks, biosecurity or zoo keeping.

    Subject pre-requisite: General Mathematics (Units 3 & 4, C), or equivalent.

    To study this degree we also assume you have sound knowledge in:

    • English (Units 3 & 4, C)

    We assume that your knowledge is equivalent to a grade C or higher in Units 3 and 4 at high school level (typically studied in Year 12). Find out more about assumed knowledge.

    In addition, it is also recommended that you have studied Mathematical Methods (Units 3 & 4, C), or equivalent, one of Biology, Chemistry, or Physics (Units 3 & 4, C) or equivalent. If you do not have the recommended Mathematical Methods level for entry then you will be required to undertake MAT1000 Mathematics Fundamentals as an elective.

    English language requirements

    You are required to meet the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 with a minimum 5.5 in each subscore. UniSQ also accepts other English language proficiency tests.

    If you don't meet the English language requirements, you can apply to study with our English language partner, the Union Institute of Language (UIL), or if you're a domestic student you can apply to study UniSQ Ready courses TPP0122 and TPP0123.

    English Program Requirements

    Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows students to gain credit (advanced standing) towards their course in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training. Applicants are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

    • Career opportunities in wildlife management are growing in Australia and internationally as climate change impacts wildlife conservation.
    • Manage wildlife in a sanctuary or zoo, or as a protected area ranger. Manage wildlife as game or as pest species (both native and introduced species) to mitigate human-wildlife conflict, such as relocating pest animals or birds striking aircraft.
    • Graduates can find work as a biosecurity officer, pest control officer, wildlife officer, and wildlife manager.
