    Overview

    • Do you have a passion for improving the lives of others? Speech pathologists assess and treat infants, children and adults with a wide range of developmental, congenital and acquired delays and disorders in speech, language, voice, fluency, multimodal communication and swallowing. Study the Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) at UniSQ and be ready to make a difference. Graduate prepared to help patients with a multitude of health care needs.
    • Learn to work closely with other health professionals to deliver comprehensive health care plans that improve the lives of those living with communication disorders.
    • Be guided by experienced academics and industry professionals to ensure you’re prepared to deliver care to people in various communities, particularly high need areas such as regional, rural and remote practice, Indigenous and low resource communities.
    • Develop skills in a range of courses designed to prepare you for the demands of the speech pathology, from clinical learning in communication and swallowing through to understanding more about delivering digital health.
    • Select from two honours pathways within your degree:
    • the project option focuses on partnerships with industry to address everyday practice topics, or
    • the research option allows you to create an individual research project (this pathway is dependent on your GPA).

    Regardless of which honours pathway you choose, you will be eligible to apply for entry into a higher degree by research.

    Subject pre-requisites

    • General English (Units 3 & 4, C), or equivalent
    • one of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Psychology (Units 3 & 4, C), or equivalent

    Please note that meeting entry requirements does not guarantee admission. Places within the Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) are limited by quota.

Inherent requirements are fundamental skills, capabilities and knowledge that students must be able to demonstrate in order to achieve the essential learning outcomes of the degree, while maintaining the academic integrity of the degree.     English language requirements

    To meet the applicable English language requirements for the Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours), we accept the minimum English language proficiency scores from one of the following tests. Your test must be completed within two years of applying to UniSQ.

    IELTS (Academic) Minimum overall score of 8.0, with a minimum of 8.0 in speaking and writing, and a minimum of 7.5 in reading and listening.
    Pearson Test of English Minimum overall score of 79 with a communicative score of 79 or higher.

    English Program Requirements

    Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows students to gain credit (advanced standing) towards their course in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training. Applicants are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

    • Find job opportunities in private practice (independently and in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary teams) as well as in schools and early learning settings, government agencies, non-profit organisations, universities, health and wellbeing settings, disability services, rehabilitation, palliative care, intensive care and neonatal intensive care, community health, mental health, juvenile justice, and accent modification.
