    Note: This program has been discontinued, with May 2019 being the final intake of students. The following information is being retained for students currently enrolled in the program.

    Now more than ever, more emphasis has been placed on the environmental management and planning of our cities. Graduates must acquire knowledge to solve problems and reshape the quality and performance of cities around the world.

    The Bachelor of Sustainable Environments and Planning at Bond, equips graduates with knowledge in environmental science and management, and urban design and planning. This combination of knowledge and skill development allows graduates to pursue many career paths in the natural built environment.

    By learning in the University’s Sustainable Development Building, students will also be encouraged to expand their horizons and redefine the sustainability and planning industry of tomorrow, promoting sustainable practices. Students will experience Bond’s small class sizes and learn from nationally and internationally recognised academics in a collaborative environment. This allows students the opportunity to refine their skill set and apply their theoretical knowledge in practical settings.

    General Secondary Education Certificate 85%

    Grade average of final year results. Converted to a percentage scale where 50% = pass if otherwise reported.

    General Secondary Education Certificate (Successful Completion) and required SAT score 1020

    Overall test score. Where multiple test results have been presented, the overall test result providing the best rank will be used.

    English Program Requirements

    English language proficiency requirements

    Bond's programs are taught and assessed in English, so depending on your educational background and citizenship, you may be required to provide evidence that your English language ability meets our requirements. This may include submitting results from an approved English Language Test taken in the past two years - you can see the required results for the most common approved tests below. There are other ways to demonstrate English language proficiency and gain entry into this program, including demonstrating prior study in English, or other qualifications. If your qualification does not meet the English language requirements then you will need to provide an English proficiency test for admission.

    Outcomes

    City planner

    A city planners’ primary role is to ensure that short and long-term urban land use goals are reached, while keeping in mind the future requirements of ever-growing urban populations.  This can ensure that infrastructure such as schools and town centres are both long-lasting and sustainable.

    Urban planner

    An Urban and Regional planner is responsible for the development and application of policies for the controlled use of land. They provide advice on social factors affecting land use, after compiling and analysing economic, legal, cultural, demographic, sociological, and physical data.

    Urban design planner

    An Urban Design Planner is responsible for the appearance, function and liveability of our suburbs, towns and cities. They can operate on the macro scale of zoning, transport and infrastructure networks, or on a micro scale involving factors such as street design.
