About

Environmental geoscience is the scientific study of relationships between Earth processes, human activities, and the environment. Environmental geoscientists explore how geological processes have shaped the geosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere over geologic time and investigate impacts of human activities on these systems.

What you will learn

You will study the basic science of environmental biology and ecological theory and learn about complex environmental issues facing our society. Areas of emphasis are biodiversity, conservation, ecological processes at the levels of genes to communities to landscapes, environmental contamination and other aspects of applied ecology.

English Program Requirements

The language of instruction and examination at the University of Saskatchewan is English. In order for students to understand, communicate and be successful in programs at the university, an acceptable level of academic English is required. You may be asked to provide proof of English proficiency.

Career

Graduates of this program are immediately eligible to register as Professional Geoscientists-in-Training with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS). You can seek employment with a variety of private and public sector employers including consulting firms, resource companies (e.g., oil and gas, potash, base and precious metals, diamonds, aggregate), municipal divisions (e.g., water quality, wastewater treatment, solid waste management), and federal or provincial organizations (e.g., environment, water).

Transcripts

Transcripts or report cards are used to calculate your admission average and to determine whether you have met or will meet prerequisite requirements for your program.

English language proficiency

You may be asked to show evidence that you are proficient in English to ensure you are prepared to study at USask. If you’ve taken a standardized test, you will need to arrange for your results to be sent directly to the University of Saskatchewan from the testing centre.
