    About

    Walsh University's B.A./M.A. Counseling & Human Development program provides the best preparation for students who want to pursue counseling careers. Our program combines a B.A. in Behavioral Sciences and a M.A. in Counseling and Human Development that students can complete in six years, right here at Walsh University.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    Prospective students must meet two of the following three criteria:

    • Minimum high school 3.5 GPA
    • Minimum 27 ACT or 1100 SAT score
    • Graduate in top 10% of high school class.

    In addition to applying to the University, eligible students must submit a separate application for the BA/MA Program along with 3 letters of recommendation and a writing sample, as well as participate in an interview with BA/MA faculty.

    English Program Requirements

    • Completed online application for admission.
    • Official transcripts from the last 4 years of high school.
    • Transcripts need to be translated into English.
    • One or more of the following test scores:
      • SAT scores(writing not required)
      • ACT scores(writing not required)
      • TOEFL scores - 62 or higher required
      • IELTS scores:
        • 5.5 overall or higher on the IELTS, as a whole
        • Only one sub score on the IELTS can fall to a 4.5.
        • If a student has a 5.0 on the IELTS, they can submit an ESL certificate showing proof of language proficiency; however, the IELTS date cannot be after the dates of ESL completion.
      • The Duolingo English Test - 95 or higher
      • Cambridge English Assessments:
        • B2 First – 160 or higher required
        • C1 Advanced – 160 or higher required
        • C2 Proficiency – 180 or higher required

    Career

    Counselors work in a variety of settings, from schools to rehabilitation centers. They work with individuals who have substance abuse problems, mental illness, family and marriage problems or who need disability rehabilitation.
