Overview About the Bio-Convergence programme The BC major fromYonsei University offers students the opportunity to study and contribute to the scientific and technological breakthroughs that revolutionize and transform the world. The program is conducted in an interdisciplinary environment that centers upon coursework in fields such as biochemistry, systems biology, biotechnology, chemistry, earth system sciences and pharmaceuticals. The program provides students with many opportunities to conduct laboratory work and independent research, while also featuring courses that deal with the interaction between society and science (science policy, regulatory affairs, etc.).CurriculumThe program is conducted in an interdisciplinary environment that centers upon coursework in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology and pharmacy that cover the diverse biological phenomena and various advanced technologies used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. First year students take introductory courses as well as foundational courses in math and science such as, calculus, biology, chemistry, and physics. Sophomores complete the major requirement courses such as, physical chemistry, organic chemistry and biochemistry, with juniors being introduced to more advanced courses on the social issues of technology. In the final year, seniors complete their graduation requirement, an independent research program.CareersThe BC major provides an interdisciplinary education so that students are prepared to become global leaders in the major areas of the biological industry-such as, pharmaceutical, biotech, cosmetics, and healthcare sectors-as well as in regulatory affairs, patent law, technology transfer, intellectual property, and business consulting.
