The first 3 years of this course is the BEng which will unlock your full potential as a creative problem solver. Our hands on, practical problem solving approach makes up 40-60% of each year of study so you can be a confident, work-ready engineer by the time your graduate. The forth year is the MEng which will advance your engineering talent and develop your leadership and management skills. On completion of the MEng, you will be on track to become a Chartered Engineer (CEng).
This course equips you to be a practising professional graduate Biomedical Engineer. Biomedical engineering is a key area for growth in south-east England which presents exciting opportunities for graduates. You will be able to apply and develop technology to provide biomedical engineering solutions for the healthcare industry.
On the course, you will be supported to develop your employability skills and job application skills to apply for placement opportunities. Placement opportunities in engineering often lead to opening doors to great potential engineering graduate employment opportunities with companies such as NHS, Burton Medical, Braun, Fielder Filter Systems, TwistDX, Futurenova, BMM Weston and many more.
In your first year, you will be provided with the relevant theoretical and practical knowledge of 3D modelling and printing, advanced knowledge of mathematics with relevant software, electro-mechanical systems, mechatronics and manufacturing along with other engineering programmes so that you will be prepared for at least a general engineering degree. You will gain hands-on learning experiences in the engineering workshops, engineering laboratories and makerspace. You will develop your core knowledge and understanding of:
- 3D Design and 3D Printing
- Mechatronics with CDIO project
- Advance knowledge of material and manufacturing
- Electro-mechanical system and design
- Advanced mathematics and relevant software.
You will also develop your professional skills in Teamwork, Ethics, Health & Safety.
