    About

    Overview

This course offers integrated theory and practice that will empower you to find your dream job, whether that be working in investment banking, asset management, corporate finance and a wide range of other career destinations within the financial markets or the broader corporate world.

You also have the opportunity to choose one of our four finance pathways in year two of the course to further focus your studies. Our pathways allow you to delve deeper into your specific interests and specialise your knowledge to equip you with the right skills for your future career goals.

    You can choose from:

    • FinTech
    • Sustainable Finance
    • Investments
    • International Business

During your studies, you'll have the opportunity to put the theory you have been learning into practice. Our three dealing rooms are equipped by Thomson Reuters and use the latest high-frequency trading simulation software. You will experience the thrill of a live market – take positions, quote two-way prices and manage the risk of a $50-100-million trading book. This first-hand practical experience is a unique learning opportunity and will give you an advantage over other job applicants.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

International Baccalaureate: Achieve 32 points overall. Must include 5 in one of the following subjects: standard level Mathematics; standard level Mathematics: analysis and approaches, standard level Mathematics: applications and interpretations.

Each course has specific entry criteria. For some you will need to have a certain level of knowledge in a subject before you begin the degree – this is called a subject requirement. Entry onto all courses is dependent on you reaching a particular standard in your education and achieving certain exam grades.

Most courses will list a typical offer with their course information. Entry to all courses at the University of Reading is competitive, so even if you hold (or are predicted to achieve) grades matching our typical offer, you are not guaranteed an offer of a place on a degree course.

Note that entry requirements shown on our course pages are only an indicator. We sometimes update entry requirements throughout the year, so check online or contact the Admissions Office for the latest information. In addition, we treat each application on individual merit, so don’t rule yourself out.

If you are unsure whether your predicted grades would be acceptable for entry, contact our Admissions Office staff for advice. If you are made an offer of a place, the conditions that you need to meet to take up your place on the course will be detailed in your offer letter.

We welcome students presenting the IB diploma. If you are offered a place, we will specify an overall score that you will need to achieve. Where a course requires specific-subject knowledge equivalent to A level, you will be asked to achieve a particular grade at higher level.

    English Program Requirements

TOEFL (Test of English as a foreign language): overall score of 88 with no less than 17 in Listening and Writing, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking

IELTS (British Council International English Language Test): Score of 6.5 overall with no less than 5.5 in any component of the test.
