    BSc (Hons) Horticulture

    About

As well as an understanding of the commercial production of fruit, vegetables, flowers and ornamental plants, this course teaches how to address the design, establishment and maintenance of parks and gardens, open spaces and managed landscapes.

It will give you a broad base of horticultural knowledge that prepares you for work in any area of the industry, and establish your capabilities in horticultural science, experimentation in plant physiology and advances in horticultural technology.

Classroom teaching is supported by visits to growers and landscapes, during which you'll learn to evaluate management requirements and production methods.

The Horticulture BSc/BSc (Hons) degree is awarded by the University of Glasgow.

Learn how fruit, flowers and vegetables are commercially grown and how you can design, establish and maintain parks and gardens.

The first two years reflect the HND Horticulture course.

In years three and four you'll study a selection of core subjects, as well as choosing your own specialist modules in production horticulture or garden and greenspace management.

Classroom learning will be underpinned by visits to growers, horticulturists and landscapers. That helps you prepare blueprints for plant production, manage plans and collect lab, field and landscape-based data for analysis.

If you progress to Honours, you'll undertake your own research project in a subject which interests you, drawing together all that you have learned on the course.
