    About

    Build your professional practice and expand your management skills with the BSc in Nursing Management from RCSI School of Nursing and Midwifery. You will evaluate factors that influence health, and hone your skills in planning patient-centred health promotion interventions.

    With a focus on developing as a leader, you will reflect on the crucial role of nursing management for success in interdisciplinary teams, and gain insight into the impact of financing on resource allocation. This programme is delivered part-time via an active blended learning approach including self-directed learning and live online classes approximately once every week.

    Further support is provided through the module lead, programme director and regular online drop-in sessions.

    The award title for this course is BSc in Nursing Management.

    This course is a Level 8 award on the Irish National Framework of Qualifications.

    • (PO1): Demonstrate an understanding of the theory, concepts and methods pertaining to the six modules they complete on the BSc Nursing Management programme.
    • (PO2): Demonstrate detailed knowledge and understanding of clinical leadership and management, research and evidence-based practice, patient safety and risk management, human resource management, health financial management, lifelong education and professional development, and the utilisation of this knowledge in providing patient-centred, safe and quality healthcare and management services.
    • (PO3): Demonstrate the ability to use and modify advanced skills in research, evidence-based practice, leadership, management, education and professional development to efficiently provide patient-centered care and health care management in complex situations which may require collaboration with the multi/interdisciplinary teams and primary/community care settings.
    • (PO4): Demonstrate the critical thinking skills required to exercise appropriate judgement in decision making in relation to patient-centred quality care and healthcare management to lead and manage complex healthcare systems.
    • (PO5): Develop the concepts and principles that underpin problem solving and decision making in health care management, and accepting the accountability for all the decision making in relation to healthcare services and management.
    • (PO6): Demonstrate an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed to lead the healthcare team in order to provide safe and quality evidence-based healthcare within the context of collaborative working and within own scope of practice.
