    Degree Overview
    >In this programme you will receive an excellent education in a range of different aspects of Chemistry, with a focus on Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Chemistry and Biology.
    >Chemistry is taken with: Mathematics, Biology and one other Science subject in first year, with Biology and Mathematics or an Elective in second year and with Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Chemistry and Biology in third year.
    >In fourth year you will have the opportunity to undertake a six-month work placement/internship (subject to availability). This provides an insight into the working environment of a professional chemist and helps graduate career prospects.
    >This innovative programme develops skills in problem-solving, communication, scientific writing and presentation - all highly valued in the workforce. These transferable skills help provide employment opportunities in chemistry and non-chemistry based careers.
    >There is a transfer pathway from 1st year MH201 Science to 2nd year MH210 Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Chemistry (subject to availability of places) for students who have taken Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and another subject. More details about potential MH201 transfer opportunities.

    Mature applicants are assessed separately to school-leavers. Mature applicants are 23 years or older by 1st January in the year of entry to the University. For part-time/flexible degrees the mature age is 21.

    DARE: The Disability Access Route to Education is a third level alternative admissions scheme for school-leavers whose disabilities have had a negative impact on their second level education.

    English Program Requirements

    IELTS : 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in each band  

    Duolingo English Test (DET) : The minimum requirement will be a DET score of 120 - with at least 110 in each individual subscore. 

    Pearson Test of English : 63 with no less than 59 for each item in the Communicative Skills section

    TOEFL internet-based test  : iBT: 90 with no less than 21 in writing and at least 19 in all other sections

Chemists work in a wide range of companies, from pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to cosmetics and medical devices firms, as well as in the agricultural, food and drinks sector. Their roles include laboratory-based quality control, research and development, manufacture support or regulatory positions.
