The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) offers a cutting-edge program geared towards the shifting needs of our business world, encouraging students to discover creative business solutions that arenât defined by boundaries. The International Bachelor of Administration (iBBA) program is the first of its kind in Canada, offering an innovative, comprehensive and hands-on learning experience. Students develop a foundation in management that is both relevant and responsive to shifting marketplace needs, with an emphasis on cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills. Youâll experience business from multiple perspectives through internationally-focused core courses; regionally-focused electives and language study; and a mandatory exchange term at one of Schulich? leading business school partners around the world. Choose Your Specialization: Accounting The Accounting specialization provides a path towards the CPA professional accreditation either through the accelerated Master of Accounting (two semesters) or the CPA professional stream. Schulich? accounting courses cover the principal subjects in the field: financial accounting, managerial accounting, taxation and auditing. Studying with one of the top Accounting faculties in the country, students not only acquire a diverse and detailed education in the subject matter, but also develop transferable skills and analytical acumen. Graduates specializing in accounting have followed career paths leading to positions such as chief financial officer, underwriter, pension administrator, or professional accountant. Furthermore, there is a 95% success rate among Schulich BBA/iBBA students who write the UFE exam. Economics The economics specialization focuses on explaining the economic and social interactions of individuals, firms and governments in the global environment. Schulich? economics electives provide a framework for analyzing economic and business factors that affect corporations and day-to-day management problems. This specialization requires that students complete a series of elective courses from a number of areas including international economics, money and banking, industrial economics, markets and regulations, and economic forecasting. Students will learn to use economic tools to explain movements in critical variables such as interest rates, exchange rates, unemployment and economic growth. Graduates specializing in economics have followed career paths leading to chief executive officer, management consultant and financial analyst. Entrepreneurial & Family Business Studies Entrepreneurial & Family Business Studies courses are designed for individuals who are already running their own businesses and would like to know what to do to make their businesses or make it more successful. The focus is on what are the challenges related to getting a business started and how to approach the endeavour more rationally. Entrepreneurial studies faculty members have a wealth of experience in the entrepreneurial sector as consultants, advisors, board members, venture capitalists, and as financial and marketing experts. Finance Schulich offers one of the most extensive Finance programs in Canada, with coverage of a wide spectrum of financial activities, including corporate financial management, investment management and private wealth management. You may complement a finance specialization with courses in Accounting, Economics and Management Science. Graduates are well positioned to build careers in the retail side of banking or as financial advisors and financial analysts. International Business In today? globalized world, enterprises large and small seek employees who have the ability to perform in multicultural situations and contrasting business environments. The International Business Specialization equips students to succeed in cross-border work environments with electives that instruct on management across cultures, international marketing and global contexts. The curriculum qualifies students to assess impact by global region on management functions in a range of industries. Marketing Schulich has one of the top Marketing departments in the world. This specialization is valuable to almost any organization - profit or non-profit, new or mature, small or large, in Canada or abroad. The curriculum reflects the faculty? focus on real world application, and includes electives designed to help students understand marketing strategy, the details of marketing tactics and the general principles of marketing in a rapidly evolving technological and diversified arena. Course material spans consumer behaviour, entertainment marketing, digital media and more. Operations Management & Information Systems The courses offered in the Operations Management and Information Systems specialization provide solid grounding in mathematical analysis and information technologies as well as applied knowledge of operations management and information systems. Students gain the ability to solve complex, real-world problems and take electives in information systems, supply chain, and database management. Organization Studies The Organization Studies specialization prepares students to work effectively with others in today? challenging environment. Courses are designed to engage through case studies, research, and experiential exercises. Central issues in the Organization Studies curriculum include leadership; negotiation and conflict management; strategy implementation and change management; cultural values and mindsets; managing individuals and teams; and more generally, decision-making, motivation, and stress. A specialization in organizational behaviour is compatible with careers in management consulting and human resources. Responsible Business The Responsible Business specialization offers students the chance to focus their study around emerging social, ethical and environmental concerns that are at the forefront of business, and to prepare themselves for the management challenges that lie ahead. Courses in this specialization enable students to focus on responsible business issues as they relate to different core business functions (e.g. Strategy, Accounting, Marketing, etc.) and to different sectors (business, nonprofit and public). The goal of the specialization is to enable students to position themselves to prospective recruiters as future leaders, ready to meet some of the most urgent and compex challenges of business in the today's global marketplace. Strategic Management The emphasis in this integrative specialization is on applying and synthesizing concepts and techniques from the various functional areas of accounting, finance, managerial economics, marketing, operations management, and organizational behaviour in the context of strategy making. Courses aim to develop studentsâ ability to 1) Identify and analyze critical threats and opportunities confronting an organization, 2) Make recommendations for the development and use of the firm? resources, and 3) Most effectively utilize an organization's capabilities to ensure its success.
