Our Business and Mathematics course, delivered jointly by Aston Business School and the School of Engineering and Applied Science, is designed to give you the knowledge, skills and experience youll need to embark on your career.
What youll learn
The programme combines economics, finance and business oriented modules with applied maths modules, preparing you for a high-level career in the private or public sectors.
Our joint honours programme enables you to choose a combination of maths and economics modules in your second and final years and will ensure your learning experience is exciting and relevant for tomorrows challenges. Youll also have the opportunity to develop key employability skills including communication, presentation and report writing. On this course you spend your third year in a paid professional placement of direct relevance to your studies. This placement will give you invaluable practical experience in a real work environment and further enhance your career prospects. Both Schools have strong links with major employers ranging from the biggest communication companies to the pharmaceutical industry.
For our joint honours maths students, our current and recent placement employers include companies in the UK and abroad such as: Lloyds Banking, UK Department of Health and Social Care, BT, Gazprom, TJX Europe, Warner Bros, Walt Disney, NPower, Argos Financial, Deutsche Bank, 3M, National Grid, Harrods, Merck Chemicals, Ofgem, PWC, CrossCountry Trains, Black & Decker, and Renault.

Entry Requirements
- ABB, to include A level Maths at minimum grade A
- BBB, to include A level Maths at minimum grade B (with an EPQ or Core Maths at grade B)
- BBC, to include A level Maths at minimum grade B (contextual offers and for DTUS applicants)
- GCSE: Maths and English Grade C/4.
English Program Requirements
To be accepted onto our programmes, you must be able to satisfy the University's English language requirements. The level required will depend on the programme you are applying for. We strive to make your application process as easy as possible, however in all cases we reserve the right to request an English language qualification and / or conduct an interview.

Our Business and Mathematics course has been specifically designed, with industry input, to meet the huge demand for graduates with this combination of skills, across a wide range of sectors.
