    Business Management with Financial Management

    About

On this degree, you'll develop an in-depth knowledge of the financial analysis of business operations. You'll gain the ability to assess how organisations work and to spot the right opportunities at the right time.

You'll learn in industry-standard facilities like our Bloomberg suite. That offers real-time financial trading simulations – so you can practise in realistic scenarios before you go out there and do it for real.

Plus, you'll have even more opportunities than ever before to make connections that will help you in your future career, from our many links with industry, as well as meeting with like-minded entrepreneurs, organisations and corporate partners in our recently enhanced Business Lounge. And you'll have access to the Business School's industry-standard facilities like the Bloomberg and Executive Education suites. Or you could help SMEs with their challenges via our Business Clinic, and take part in live business projects. Studying at Hull University Business School gives you a unique learning experience and places you as part of an exclusive club.

And you'll study topics like international finance and financial control, under experts who bring the theory to life through case studies, projects and guest speakers.

Put yourself at the forefront of financial decision-making in business.

    What you'll study

The course consists of 120 credits per year. Most modules are 20 credits, meaning you'll study six modules each year. Some longer modules, such as a dissertation, are worth more (e.g. 40 credits). In these cases, you'll study fewer modules - but the number of credits will always add up to 120.

    First year modules

    • Compulsory

      Accounting and Finance

Delve into topics such as financing decisions, cost behaviour, cost-volume-profit analysis, absorption costing, variance analysis and budgeting.

      Developing Self & Others

Assessing your human skills and developing good habits is central to your professional development. This module allows you to gain a better understanding of what is needed from the wider business perspective and apply theories of positive habit development in practice.

      Introduction to Economics

This introduction covers both microeconomics (the affairs of individual consumers, firms and government) and macroeconomics (the study of the economy as a whole).

      Marketing

Marketing is an exciting, dynamic, and creative environment to work in. It places brands in the consumers' mind and shapes their decisions. Marketing is a critical management function that is essential to business success. This module allows you to work with an organisation on a live marketing project based on a real-life challenge.

The influence large organisations have to both postively contribute to, or potentially harm society, can be greater than the power of states. You'll reflect on challenges to business practice looking at issues such as corporate social responsibility, globalisation, sustainable development and climate change, and human rights and exploitation.

Managing and Innovating in the 4IR

Data and technology is disrupting every party of the economy and our lives. This modile links to the four components of industrial strategy identified by the UK government - artificial intelligence, ageing society, clean growth, and mobility.

Use our institution code H72, and for medicine (HYMS) use H75.

    When to apply

Please apply through UCAS. We encourage applications by the January UCAS deadline, but will normally consider later applications for most courses. However, please be aware that Midwifery and Children's Nursing may close at that time.

For Medicine, applications must reach UCAS by 15 October of the year before the course starts.

To guarantee entry to the University, you must have met all the conditions of your offer by 31 August.

    UCAS Extra

If you have used all five of your UCAS choices and not received any offers, UCAS Extra allows you to make one additional choice*. UCAS Extra is available from late February until 30 June. Please check the UCAS website for up to date information, including which programmes are available.
