    About

    Course Overview

    • Students will cover 10 modules in a 1 year, full-time programme of lectures, seminars, workshops, and master classes.
    • Learners will develop skills in music and dance – any genre is welcome.

    This qualification not only enhances performance skills, but also opens doors to further study.

    • Pathway into certain degree programmes – in the first instance, successful completion of the course to the required standard will enable students to be considered for a place in second year of the full-time undergraduate programmes at the Irish World Academy, University of Limerick.
    • Criteria for progression will be based on a number of places available as well as relevance of performance and academic achievement on the Certificate.
    • The Certificate will provide training in music literacy, group playing and arrangement, song and dance, enabling the students to work in a variety of educational contexts, both solo and group.
    • Dancers will experience ensemble, choreography work and movement awareness.
    • This programme will develop academic, literacy and presentation skills, important for a wide range of careers.
    • The Certificate will develop students’ current performance abilities and encourage the development of new performance skills including keyboard and composition, leading to the possibility of careers as performers.
    • Opportunities in Arts administration and media are a potential career path for students

    Entry Requirements for applicants from Saudi Arabia:

    Foundation Entry

    Undergraduate students need a Foundation Programme. Entry to the UL International Foundation Programme with CGPA of 80% or above in General Secondary Education Certificate including English, Mathematics and another language. An IELTS of 5.5 is also necessary depending on the Foundation Stream.

    Requirement to Progress from Foundation Programme to Bachelor Degree Science and Engineering and Kemmy Business School

    Successfully pass the Foundation Programme with a minimum grade of C3 in all modules including a minimum grade XX in Mathematics 1 and 2. For programmes where an honour maths grade is required we look for a B3 in the Foundation Programme maths modules and where pass maths is required we look for a C3 in the maths modules in the Foundation Programme.

    Minimum grade of C3 in all modules and a minimum C2 grade in EH2001, EH2002, EH2011 and EH2012.

    Students can successfully pass the Foundation Programme with a C3 in all modules but will not be able to progress onto a Degree programme at University of Limerick (UL).

    Please note that some programmes may have a higher entry requirement and/or a portfolio requirement and not all applicants who meet the minimum grades will be offered a place.
