Dr Les Hutchison Undergraduate Scholarship

This scholarship scheme will see Â£2,000 being awarded annually to one student to support the student experience in the Honours year of undergraduate study.

DSM Chemical Engineering Scholarship

This scholarship scheme will see £4,250 being awarded in the 2022/23 academic session to three students undertaking MEng (Hons) Chemical Engineering to support the student experience in the final year (Year 5) of study. Applications are open from Monday 10 January to Friday 13 May 2022. Find out more about the scholarship here.

Year 1:  Applicants must have completed the Certificate of General Secondary Education plus a relevant Foundation programme or Diploma Year 2:  Community College Diploma

If you do not fall into any of the categories above you will need to provide proof of your English language ability through the International English Language Test System (IELTS) or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

Duo Lingo

For 2022-23 entry, the University has approved the use of the online Duolingo English test as evidence of English language ability. UWS will accept an overall score between 90-115 with no component score below 90.

Placement Opportunities

You will undergo a period of pilot plant-based training as part of the course and you can opt to take a one-year paid industrial placement between year 3 and year 4 as a supervised, junior chemical engineer.

Placements are obtained competitively and can be in any branch of the chemical/process industry in the UK or abroad. Previous placements have included GlaxoSmithKline, British Nuclear Fuels, Doosan Babcock, Diageo and Sellafield Ltd.
