Majoring in Civil Engineering is a first step in a rewarding career with countless opportunities. Civil engineering jobs can involve design, construction, managerial responsibilities, operations, maintenance, and much more — throughout both the public and private sectors. This meaningful work has an impact on the everyday lives of people across the globe. Roads, buildings, airports, tunnels, dams, bridges, and even water and sanitation systems rely on the expertise of civil engineers to function properly. 

At York College, our bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering offers a broad-based education to prepare you for work in any aspect of civil or environmental engineering. Coursework emphasizes sustainable engineering and design practices, ensuring that graduates are ready to contribute to in-demand roles now and in the future. 

Along with personalized instruction, you'll participate in hands-on projects and three semesters of full-time work experience through York College's Engineering Co-Op Program. As you build your resume, you'll also have support from a group of passionate faculty who are committed to undergraduate research and education. 

The Civil Engineering program at York College is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.

In support of this philosophy, the College offers a program of studies that provides over 50 degree options in baccalaureate disciplines, plus associate degree and minor programs.

Specific requirements and recommended curricula for each baccalaureate degree program are described in the  Programs of Study   section of this catalog. The general requirements for earning a baccalaureate degree at York College, which apply to all departmental bachelor’s degree programs, are:

1. Successful completion of at least 120 credit hours and matriculation in a specific academic program. To satisfy the College’s residence requirement, the last 30 of these credits must be earned at York College.
2. Achievement of a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher. In certain majors, a higher minimum grade point average may be required for degree completion.
3. Successful completion of the designated program requirements for a specific major and achievement of the appropriate grade point average in the major as specified by the departmental curriculum in the Programs of Study   section of this catalog.
4. Completion of the Generation Next Requirements for baccalaureate majors and achievement of the appropriate grade point average in these courses as specified in the Generation Next Requirements section below.
5. Students completing a second York College Baccalaureate Degree are not required to repeat the general education requirements.

• Official Copy of Secondary School grade report (high school transcript) along with a certified English translation if needed.
• Evidence of English language proficiency (for Non-Native English speakers).
• Official SAT or ACT test scores (for Native English speakers and applicants to Engineering, Computer Science, Nursing, Education, Forensic Chemistry, and Allied Health programs).
