    Civil Engineering with Construction Management BEng(Hons)

    About

    Learn to manage complex construction projects from design to completion, informed by understanding of the core principles of civil engineering.

    Our accredited course explores construction management, design of structures and project planning, as well as structures, materials, geotechnics and hydraulics.

    Fieldwork, site visits, and projects run with our industry partners give you hands-on experience. Youll work with students in interdisciplinary project teams on industry-based scenarios, ranging from design briefs to real-world case studies.

    Youll learn with staff active in research and consultancy and visiting industry experts will share their experience with you to give you a feel for what the working world is like.

    The option of a salaried placement year and the opportunity to learn Building Information Modelling (BIM) will give you professional advantage. There is also the opportunity to study abroad in your third year.

    Our Civil Engineering with Construction Management MEng course offers an extra year of study at masters level. 

    Course structure

    The first year explores the fundamental elements of civil engineering. Modules become more tailored from year two. In your final year you will have the freedom to choose your own option modules and research project.

    After year 1 you may choose to transfer to our Civil Engineering BEng(Hons) orCivil with Environmental Engineering BEng(Hons).

    You will learn through lectures, tutorials, group practicals, design weeks and laboratory work. You will also take part in field courses ranging from geological studies to surveying and have the option of a placement year.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    We require students taking the Tawjihi (secondary school leaving certificate) to take and successfully complete an international foundation year or equivalent.

    Jordanian Community College Diplomas can be considered on a case by case basis, and may be considered for advanced entry subject to admissions assessment.

    English Program Requirements

    COVID-19 continues to disrupt exams and English language testing in some parts of the world. For 2022 entry, we have expanded the number of qualifications we are able to accept. If you have, or are sitting, one of the qualifications listed here and it meets our validity policy then you do not need to take an IELTS test, even if we asked you to do so in your offer. Please let us know and send a copy of your results so we can check your qualification.

    • English language, English literature, or English language and literature A-levels at grade D or above.
    • English courses from other UK universities, subject to subject to being awarded from an accredited institution and at the CEFR B2 minimum levels required and meeting all four components.
    • A bachelors or masters degree from an accredited university in the UK or a Home Office majority English-speaking country.
    • TOEFL iBT At Home test – check the TOEFL website for more information about which countries are operating this test and the test eligibility.
    • IELTS Indicator home-based test – check the IELTS Indicator website for more information about which countries are operating this test and the test eligibility.
    • KITE (Kaplan International Tools for English) - an easy to access online English Language test from Kaplan online that can be taken from home.
    • LanguageCert International ESOL (IESOL) Exam.
    • Occupational English Test (OET) – accepted for Medicine and a range of allied health profession courses, including Pharmacy, which have vocational training elements.

    If you need additional English language training we have pre-sessional courses available.

    All qualifications are subject to our normal admissions checks and the above is only a summary and not a guarantee that your qualification will definitely be accepted.     This degree is accredited as:

    •  fully satisfying the educational base for an Incorporated Engineer (IEng)
    •  partially satisfying the educational base for a Chartered Engineer (CEng).

    A programme of accredited further learning will be required to complete the educational base for CEng.
