About the course Contemporary mediation and communication tools and practices are transforming the way we think about our identities, relationships and communities, from language to screen, and from emoji to social networks. This major facilitates your practical communication and digital media skills alongside theoretical knowledge, to provide you a platform to become an effective and powerful communicator. You'll be trained to understand foundational aspects of media industries, processes and practices, from the technical skills in filming, editing and designing to the economic and ethical issues that underlie media production in the digital era. We don’t just teach students how to ‘do’ media and communication work, but how to communicate complex ideas in a variety of media forms, while working collaboratively with others. If you are fascinated by how communication and media works in society, passionate about debating media topics and issues, see media and communication as central to good citizenship, and love the idea of combining your interests with other options in the Bachelor of Arts or Commerce, this major is for you. By engaging in a wide variety of practical tasks we develop your ability to manage projects, work in teams and solve complex problems. You'll also learn essential communication skills such as presenting and writing.
