APUs Community Health programs offer an Undergraduate Certificate and Associate of Applied Science degree to prospective students. These enhanced educational options provide Community Health Aides the opportunity to utilize their training and education to better support the health, care, and wellness of their communities across Alaska. Create a Pathway. The Community Health Programs offer the opportunity to enhance professional skills and qualifications by advancing education. At APU, Community Health students have a clear attainment pathway from an undergraduate certificate to associate of applied science. Timely Response to Workforce Needs. The Community Health Aide program has provided essential primary health care services across Rural Alaska since 1968. CHAP has expanded to a network of 550 practitioners fulfilling healthcare needs across 170 Rural Alaskan villages.
