    About

Technical problems are solved for the most part by using computers. The mere availability of more and more powerful computers and the ability to operate them is, however, not enough to master the major scientific-technological challenges of the future. The main difficulty lies in the mathematical presentation in the modeling of the technical question to make the challenges accessible to computer processing. Conveying the necessary abilities for this, which of course includes using computing systems in close connection with fascinating applications, is the key aspect of this program. The Masters program in Computational Engineering Science is an academic, research-based program that is geared to basic research and methods. The program allows graduates to pursue successful careers that span their entire working life because the program is not limited to conveying current contents but conveys theoretically substantiated basic concepts and methods that transcend current trends. The program equips students with the basic principles, concepts and methods of the field. Upon completion of their degree, students should be in a position to handle tasks in various application fields given different technical, economic and social parameters; they can apply the acquired concepts and methods to future developments. The teaching and learning forms and generic modules specifically prepare students for on the job requirements. The CES Masters program pursues the following educational objectives:

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    1. An Initial Qualifying University Degree

The most important requirement for applying to Master's studies is an initial qualifying university degree. Individuals who have never completed university studies before cannot begin with Master's studies. Furthermore, most of the Master courses of study at RWTH Aachen are consecutive. This means that the Bachelor degree provides the subject background and preparation for the Master. Thus, it is not possible to have completed a Bachelor in philosophy but then pursue a Master is mechanical engineering.

    2. Complete Application On Time

An important prerequisite for a successful application is that all application documents are completed and submitted by the deadline. You can refer to the webpages about the application process to find out what documents you need to apply.

    English Program Requirements

    Proof of Language Skills

RWTH Aachen currently offers Master courses of study in German and English. You can find overview of langugae proficiency tests that are accepted by RWTH Aachen at our web page about Language Requirements.

Exempt from having to provide evidence for English language skills are all individuals who have completed an educational qualification in the UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, New Zealand, or Australia.

Participation in an English-language academic program in one of the countries listed above does not substitute the language test. Certificates and test results from other tests are not accepted either.

    Career

The M.Sc. in Computational Engineering Science is sought after in many branches. Specially trained engineers are required to run computer-assisted procedures in the chemical, automobile and aerospace industries. Moreover, the program qualifies graduates to work not only in engineering science fields, but also in the software industry.
