    About

    Modelling and simulation programmes have therefore become indispensable methods of planning and analysis in many areas. At Leibniz Universität Hannover, the Masters degree programme in Computational Methods in Engineering is interdisciplinary in nature. Graduates have an advanced knowledge of mathematics, computer science and mechanics, enabling them to resolve issues in a wide range of fields of work. The language of instruction is English; optional modules are offered in German.

    Admission Requirements

    An undergraduate degree in a related field of study, such as

    • Civil and Environmental Engineering (Bachelor of Science)
    • Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor of Science)

    Relevant for the admission is a successful completion of an engineering Bachelor’s degree, such as Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, with a high proportion of

    • 15 LP in Mathematics,
    • 18 LP in Mechanics, Statics, Kinematics, Kinetics, Elastostatics
    • 12 LP in Computer Science, Computer Programming
    • 10 LP in Natural Science,
    • 6 LP in Numerical Methods/Finite Element Methods and
    • 5 LP in Foundations of Probability Theory and Statistics

    You need English C1 level and German B1 level for the application.

    For master's degree programmes with unrestricted admission, all applicants who fulfil the admission requirements will be admitted a university place. The exact admission requirements can be found in the admission regulations:

    How to Apply

    You can use our online application portal to enrol any time between 1 June and 30 September. To be able to do this, you will need a qualification for admission to higher education. At the end of the online application, you will automatically be forwarded to a cover letter (the so-called application for enrollment). Sign this application for enrollment (handwritten or digital) and put it together with the required documents into one PDF document, which you can then upload using the upload link provided. The required documents include your qualification for admission to higher education (e.g. Abitur) and any other supporting documents such as practical training certificates or evidence of language proficiency. We also need proof of your health insurance and evidence that you have paid the semester fee. At the end of the online application, all required documents are listed and must be uploaded as a scan of the original documents by September 30th, 11:59 p.m. Please do not forget to upload your photo for the LeibnizCard . You can find information on this in the application for enrollment at the end of the online application. In September, you will receive your enrolment documents, an invitation to the welcome event for new students and information about any preparatory courses that may be offered. Please note that some degree programmes offer preparatory courses well before term starts.
