    The Master of Science in Computer Science program provides a comprehensive approach to advanced study in the field of computer science. It also prepares professionally responsible individuals to be capable of holding a variety of scientific and technical positions in the area of computing applications.

    Such jobs are found in research and development departments; in federal, state and local government agencies; in computer software development companies; in cybersecurity companies; in Internet, e-commerce and Web development companies; and in companies involved in the development of hardware and software products for applications in aerospace, biological, chemical, medical and genetic research. Graduates will also be prepared for further work at the doctoral level.

    The main objectives of the program are:

    1. to provide students the opportunity to study and attain knowledge in current computer science specialties;
    2. to develop student ability to apply computer science problem-solving methods and tools to realistic research and industry-related problems;
    3. to equip students with the tools and knowledge necessary for contributing to the needs of a high technology society through preparation for continued learning; and
    4. to prepare students for advanced graduate work in computer science.

    Accelerated Bachelor's-Master's Program

    Students may also earn an M.S. in Computer Science through the Department of Computer Science accelerated bachelor's and master's program. This program allows students to complete their undergraduate and graduate degrees in a shorter time frame. Prospective applicants should contact the director of accelerated programs for details.

    1. Articulate the current state and evaluate the current limits in the knowledge, theory and application of computer forensics. 
    2. Work effectively in teams to assess, prioritize and professionally communicate computer forensic issues and solutions. 
    3. Compare and contrast various computer forensic techniques and assess their application to context specific problems.
    4. Synthesize knowledge of computer forensics from multiple sources to design and present solutions to emerging government and industry computer forensics problems

    Entry Requirements

    This applies to regionally accredited degrees earned within the United States.

    Degree-seeking applicants must submit one official transcript from each college or university they attended. Non-degree applicants must submit one official transcript from the institution where they earned their highest degree.

    Official transcripts must be sent by the issuing institution electronically, using a transcript encryption service via email to [email protected], OR by mail, sealed and stamped by the issuing institution to: Towson University, Graduate Admissions, 8000 York Road, Towson, MD 21252.

    Transcripts submitted by the student are not considered official.

    Pre-degree students must make sure their transcript includes all grades from the first semester of their senior year.

    Submit email addresses for letters of recommendation.

    Some programs require letters of recommendation as part of the application process. If the program for which you are applying requires letters of recommendation, you must enter the email address of each recommender in order to successfully submit your application. An email will be sent directly to your references asking them to complete an online recommendation.

    Additional requirements for international applicants.

    International students are required to be enrolled full-time in graduate degree programs at Towson University. Review the list of graduate programs that meet F1/JI requirements. In addition, international applicants may be required to provide proof of English-language proficiency and a course-by-course credential evaluation.

    Note: Students who have completed a degree in the U.S. will qualify for English Proficiency without submitting additional test scores.

    A $45 non-deferrable, non-refundable fee is required with your application. Students applying with a fee waiver will have the option to choose the type of fee waiver to be used during the payment section of the application.
